Alice Charles is one of the main characters in The Politician. She is portrayed by Julia Schlaepfer.

Alice grew up wealthy in Santa Barbara, California.

Personality

As Payton's girlfriend, she is loyal and devoted to his cause. She appears as meek, poised and a well mannered girl, but she is extremely sharp and driven.

Throughout the Series

Season 1

Alice is the dutiful girlfriend of Payton. She helps him strategize to win the class presidency. After Payton is scandalized by the Infinity cancer crisis, Alice leaves Payton's side. She goes on to attend Harvard University and she meets a man there. They get engaged and Payton tries to convince Alice to leave her fiancé for him, but Alice disagrees. That is, until Alice hears that Payton might run for State Senate. She leaves in the middle of her own wedding to run to be by Payton's side.

Season 2

Alice is again by Payton's side, supporting him in whatever he needs - even having a threesome with Astrid to keep her loyalty. Alice realizes though that she has put aside her own dreams and passions for Payton's dreams. She left Harvard to be by his side, but she decided she wanted to go back and finish school and become a doctor.

Alice also got pregnant and she and Payton had a baby.

Relationships

• Payton Hobart - Her former long-time boyfriend. She is devoted to him and would do anything for him, including helping him to achieve his goal to be the President. However, during the school election, their relationship slowly dwindles after Payton didn't follow her instructions when she pretended that she cheated on him to gain votes.
• James Sullivan - Her lover. It is revealed on the third episode that she and James had been having an affair while she is in a relationship with Payton.
• Thad - Her former fiancé. She was supposed to marry him but after receiving a text both from James and McAfee, she runs away.
